WHO IS CLARE?
I’m a journalist and writer. For twenty years I’ve been collecting things: stories, arguments, receipts, letters, notes and the occasional grudge.
My work has appeared in The Guardian, Fox News, The Sun, The Daily Mail, The Sunday Times and The Telegraph, and every Thursday I publish Spilling the Tea via my Substack, where I write with complete liberation.
I travel when I can. I read more than is sensible. I'm not done.

Not wellness. I've read the label on wellness and it's mostly moisturiser and shame.
This is the other thing; living in a way that suits you and costs the earth as little as possible. Seasonal, a little pagan, eco where it counts and honest where it doesn't. The garden, the kitchen, and the small daily rebellions against being sold a better self at 40% off.
Midlife isn't a decline to be managed. It's the part where you finally stop asking permission.

I don't travel to escape. I travel because I'm nosy.
Not the influencer kind — no infinity pools, no #blessed. The kind where you get on the wrong bus on purpose, eat the thing you can't identify, and come home with a story as well as a tan. Older, harder to impress, and more curious than ever.

This is where you'll find mine — the ones I've written, and the ones I couldn't not write. Memoir, mostly, though I use the word loosely: love, loss, rebellion, and the long search for whatever it is we're all actually looking for.
